Smith Fieldsports was founded in December 2020 by Ben Smith with the new agency office and shooting school operating from his family farm in rural Hertfordshire just 45 minutes from London.
Ben is director of the company and has been involved in the Fieldsports industry for his entire working life.
After earning a degree in Countryside Management from Newcastle University, Ben worked as a guide and hospitality manger at the world famous sporting estate Tipiliuke in Patagonia for two seasons enjoying some of the finest fly fishing and deer stalking on the planet. On returning to the UK he embarked on a new adventure with The Royal Berkshire Shooting School and the London Gunmakers James Purdey & Sons.
From 2017 Ben was based at the famous shooting ground in Berkshire. Here he worked as a full time sporting agent and shooting instructor learning the trade from many industry legends whilst instructing and hosting some of the most fascinating clients from all over the world including a number of Royal Family members.
Over his career Ben has accumulated years worth of in field experience and hosted some of the most incredible sporting trips across the UK, Europe,South America and Africa.

The agency operates on a quality not quantity basis when it comes to number of trips per annum. Ensuring each trip and each client gets a high degree of care and attention.
The agency sells and hosts no more than 30 driven game days during the shooting season in the UK (August 12th - February 1st) with destinations ranging all the way from the South West of England to the Northern Isles of Scotland. Once the season in the UK is over the agency then turns its attention to a small number of trips abroad to destinations in Europe, South America and Africa. Offering everything from Spanish Partridge shooting, Safaris across Southern Africa, fishing expeditions to Patagonia and more.

Shooting Tuition and Simulated Game Days.
Smith Fieldsports offers a small shooting school as well as simulated game days nestled amongst picturesque woodland and pasture in a secluded area of the family farm in Hertfordshire with superb transport links to a wide range of the South East and the Greater London area. The layout of the shooting ground is perfect for those seeking tuition in a relaxed environment with exclusive use of the entire shooting ground during your session. Ben was trained by the Association of Professional Shooting Instructors and remains an active member of the group.
Shooting lessons are tailored to the clients specific requirements. All ability levels, ages, small groups or individuals are most welcome to book a session with Ben.
Plans for the school in 2022 include two new high towers and a fast and furious Driven Grouse simulator.
Smith Fieldsports Simulated Clay days run from March - September. The day usually consists of four extremely realistic drives, 3000 clays, elevenses in the field and lunch afterwards. Group sizes can can be tailored to the clients requirements (usually 8 - 16 people). Prices are POA.
Fly Fishing Tuition.
Fly Fishing lessons are hosted by Kevin Pallet, a fully qualified casting instructor and overall fly fishing enthusiast. After retiring from the world of banking, Kevin now manages just over 2 miles of one of Hertfordshires extremely rare chalkstreams. His knowledge and passion for fly fishing and aquatic conservation is truly infectious.
Smith Fieldsports has access to two beautiful private lakes on which clients can have fly fishing & casting lessons. Many clients also opt for the very popular 'Cast and Blast' session which involves an hour shooting lesson with Ben followed by an hours fly fishing masterclass with Kevin.
Kevin is also a fantastic source of information for purchasing the correct equipment for fishing trips - he offers impartial advice and can often offer significant discounts on a number of major fishing brands.
